2010 MAYBACH MATERIUM

SEVENTH RELEASE of Maybach Materium, sourced from a single block of the Weitz Vineyard, 1000 feet above the Silverado Trail on the eastern hillside of Oakville. The vines here struggle to grow among boulders and stones and in shallow soil, resulting in a deeply concentrated, elegantly textured Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

TASTING NOTES Every year when I sit down to write these notes I’m struck by the uniqueness of this bottling. There’s just nothing else out there that tastes like this wine. One of the richer Materiums to date, buffered nicely by the vineyard’s hallmark acidity which always contributes intense aromatics and a great persistent finish. A pure black fruited core and mid-palate grip give the wine a completeness that makes it approachable now, but worthy of putting away for a number of years. We feel this site in Oakville is one of the A+ areas of Napa and think this wine reflects that— Winemaker, Thomas Brown
