Two carefully chosen clones of estate grown grapes provided the basis for this elegant California style wine. They were whole cluster pressed directly to barrel, where primary and secondary fermentations were conducted with indigenous yeasts and lies stirring during the malolactic phase. Subsequent aging on full lies in 33% new French oak barrels followed, with periodic lies tasting during the age. A single inert gas racking was effected prior to unfined and unfiltered bottling.
Rose petals play with hints of pineapple, Asian pear and star fruit, later opening into savory spices of thyme, grilled almonds and the richness of smoked rosemary lamb. The palate shows rich texture on entry, building to a distinct tropical fruit mid-palate, with final transition to late-palate, mouth-watering tropical fruit with excellent acid structure. The long, long finish returns to the clear notes of pineapple. This is a complex, multifaceted wine that has both the richness and acid to last long into the future.
