SEVENTH RELEASE of Maybach Eterium, from a hillside vineyard a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, near Occidental. Warm days, brisk nights and deep loamy soil provide this coastal site with ideal conditions for growing cool climate varietals naturally high in acidity. The result is a wine of terrific structure.
This wine is a fabulous reflection of the even-keeled 2013 vintage and the vineyard’s far-west Sonoma coast location. High-toned notes of lemon oil, cumin and kafir lime leaf swirl together amidst rounder aromas of honeysuckle, pear, and lanolin. The experience on the palate is a viscous, delicate dance of rich honeyed flavors and flinty minerality that lasts long beyond when the last drop leaves the glass. The golden, lightly hazy color of the wine in the glass reflects our commitment to unfiltered winemaking. — Thomas Brown
