Agricola Punica Barrua 2007

Barrua is the flagship wine of a partnership between the Super Tuscan winery of Sassicaia and the Sardinian producer Santadi, with Giacomo Tachis as consultant. The wine is a lively, deep ruby red. On the nose it is complex scents of mature red fruits (mainly black cherry), spices, notes of liquorice and hints of myrtle. Overall an elegant wine that shows exceptional workmanship and an excellent way to experience the quality of Sassicaia at a very reasonable price.

Tasting Notes: The 2007 Barrua is deep crimson red in color with violet highlights and aromas of crushed fresh blackberries and a suave, silky palate supported by sweet, refined tannins and a fine note of acidity. Together, the color, fragrance, extract and alcohol achieve a degree of richness which yields wine of opulent suppleness, elegant tannins and finely tuned acidity: a textbook expression of the Carignano grape.
